Gatchy™ Cookie Policy
GoodCompany Technologies Pty Ltd
Effective Date: 4th April, 2026 · Version 1.0
Quick summary: The Gatchy website uses a small number of cookies to make the site work and to understand how it’s used. The Gatchy app does not use browser cookies. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time via the cookie banner or your browser settings.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember your preferences, understand how you navigate the site, and (in some cases) deliver relevant advertising.
Similar technologies — including pixel tags, web beacons, local storage, and session storage — work in comparable ways and are covered by this policy. We refer to all of these collectively as “cookies” throughout this document.
2. Where This Policy Applies
This Cookie Policy applies to the Gatchy website (www.gatchy.com.au) and any Gatchy-branded web pages, including the retailer portal at portal.gatchy.com.
App users: The Gatchy mobile app (iOS and Android) does not use browser cookies. Device identifiers used within the app for anti-fraud purposes are described separately in the Gatchy Privacy Policy.
3. Types of Cookies We Use
We use four categories of cookies. You can accept or decline non-essential categories via the cookie banner when you first visit our website.
3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function. They cannot be switched off. They are typically set in response to actions you take, such as logging in to the retailer portal or setting your cookie preferences.
Cookie / Technology | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
CSRF token | Strictly Necessary | Protects form submissions from cross-site request forgery attacks. | |
Cookie consent | Strictly Necessary | Stores your cookie preference choices so we don’t ask you again on every visit. | 12 months |
Session cookie | Strictly Necessary | Maintains your login session on the Gatchy retailer portal (portal.gatchy.com). Automatically deleted when you close your browser. | Session |
3.2 Performance and Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website — which pages are visited most, where visitors come from, and whether they encounter any errors. All data is aggregated and anonymised. We use this information to improve the website experience.
Cookie / Technology | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Analytics | Google Analytics. Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated number. Used to calculate visit, session, and campaign data for site analytics reports. | 2 years |
_ga_[ID] | Analytics | Google Analytics. Stores and updates a unique value for each page visited. | 2 years |
_gid | Analytics | Google Analytics. Distinguishes users.
Expires after 24 hours. | 24 hours |
_gat | Analytics | Google Analytics. Used to throttle request rate. | 1 minute |
We use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled. This means your full IP address is never stored or transmitted to Google.
3.3 Functional Cookies
These cookies allow the website to remember choices you make and provide enhanced, personalised features. For example, remembering your preferred language or region.
Cookie / Technology | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
gatchy_ui_prefs | Functional | Stores minor UI preferences such as collapsed or expanded navigation states. | 3 months |
gatchy_region | Functional | Remembers whether you’ve indicated a preference for AU or NZ content. | 6 months |
3.4 Marketing and Targeting Cookies
These cookies may be set by our advertising partners to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant advertising on other websites. They work by uniquely identifying your browser and device.
Our current position: Gatchy does not currently run paid advertising campaigns targeting website visitors and does not use marketing cookies on the main Gatchy website. This section is included for transparency and will be updated if our approach changes.
If marketing cookies are introduced in the future, we will update this policy and present a new consent prompt before any marketing cookies are set on your device.
4. Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies on our website are set by third-party services. We do not control these cookies and they are governed by the privacy policies of the relevant third parties.
Cookie / Technology | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
YouTube (if embedded) | Functional | If Gatchy embeds a YouTube video, YouTube may set cookies when you interact with the video player | Session / persistent |
Google Analytics | Analytics | Website usage statistics. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy | Various — see Section 3.2 |
We periodically audit the third-party cookies present on our website and update this policy accordingly.
